  1. What is Stopover Switzerland?

    The stopover program was designed for transfer guests flying via Zurich with Swiss International Air Lines. It allows them to explore Switzerland in 2-5 days without incurring additional airfare costs before continuing their journey to their final destination. Stopover guests can purchase attractive and unique stopover packages (including hotel and public transport ticket) on swiss.com/stopover. A stopover is possible on either the outbound or the return.

    Customers can discover Switzerland in a simple and uncomplicated manner. The package includes overnight accommodation and public transport in Switzerland, with the option of purchasing additional services. Thus, customers can visit an additional holiday destination prior to reaching their final destination.

  3. Who is responsible for Stopover Switzerland?

    Stopover Switzerland is a collaborative project between the Swiss airline SWISS, Switzerland Tourism, their subsidiary Switzerland Travel Centre.

  5. When, how and how quickly will stopover guests receive their travel documents?

    Flight: Customers will receive an instant booking confirmation from SWISS via email. Their flight ticket will be issued within one working day and sent via email.

    Stopover Package: Customers receive a preliminary booking confirmation from Switzerland Travel Centre right after booking. Hotel and mandatory seat reservations (for the Glacier and Bernina Express) will be made and confirmed within one working day (Mon-Fri). Switzerland Travel Centre has the right to cancel the booking, provided there are no more vacancies in the hotel or seats on the panorama train and no other solution can be found after consultation with the customer. Otherwise, the customer will receive the travel documents via email no later than 2 weeks before departure. The documents will be sent our by email whenever possible. In some cases, they may be delivered by TNT Express.

  6. Can I book the packages without a flight?

    Stopover packages can be booked independently of a SWISS flight.

  7. What are the general terms and conditions of the Switzerland Travel System tickets?

    1. The tickets are available for people permanently residing outside Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

    2. Tickets are non-transferable.

    3. A reimbursement is only possible if returned to the issuing office prior to the first day of validity.

    4. Partial reimbursements are only possible in the following cases: Sickness or accident (subject to submission of corresponding certificates), which includes submission for reimbursement at the site the trip was interrupted and railway confirmation. The tickets will not be replaced or reimbursed if they were lost or stolen.

  8. How do I get to my destination from Zurich Airport as quickly as possible?

    Zurich Airport has its own train station. Between 6:00 and 24:00, regular train service is offered to all regions in Switzerland. For customised travel planning, please refer to the timetable on sbb.ch or visit the SBB ticket desk at Zurich Airport.

  9. Are stopover packages indefinitely bookable?

    In principle, there is no limitation when it comes to stopover packages. However, it’s possible that hotels cannot be booked due to public holidays or peak season or only at a higher price. If necessary, Switzerland Travel Centre will look for suitable alternatives. Price and itinerary of all offers are subject to changes. The seats are limited on the Glacier and Bernina Express. If the trains are fully booked, Switzerland Travel Centre will try to find an appropriate solution.

  10. Are packages subject to an extra booking charge?

    A booking fee of CHF 25 will be charged for each booking. In some regions, a visitor’s tax (between CHF 2.- to 8.- per person/night) will be charged in addition to the package price, payable directly at the hotel.

  11. How will my money be reimbursed if I am unable to travel?

    Package: In the event of cancellation, the GTCs of Switzerland Travel Centre will enter into force.

  12. What happens in case of illness?

    Packages: Switzerland Travel Centre’s GTCs come into force, unless the customer took out travel insurance via the Switzerland Travel Centre. This will cover the case of illness.

  13. What happens if there is a delay?

    Packages: The packages cannot be cancelled due to flight delays. The GTCs of the Switzerland Travel Centre apply.

    Stopover package: Children’s prices for packages within Switzerland are available upon request. Guests travelling with children (regardless of age) should contact Switzerland Travel Centre via phone or email to get a quote.

  17. Do I need a visa to visit Switzerland?

    Certain nationalities are obliged to have a Schengen Visa in order to visit Switzerland. For the Stopover Switzerland program the usual Visa regulations apply.
